JENSEN BEACH — A new seafood restaurant is now open on south Hutchinson Island.
The Prawnbroker Restaurant Group opened The Magic Oyster Bar & Seafood Grill late last month at 10999 South Ocean Drive.
“We thought there was a need for a restaurant of this type out here on the island,” said Ed Schilling, a partner with the restaurant group. “We wanted to do a raw bar type place, which is casual, comfortable beachy so we decided to move our location up in St. Lucie West down to here.”
The restaurant group, whose other Martin County restaurants include Shrimpers Grill & Raw Bar, The Black Marlin and Prawnbroker Grill, closed the Palm City Grill in St. Lucie West on Jan. 31.
The Palm City Grill at 3208 S.W. Martin Downs Blvd. in Palm City is still open.
The Jensen Beach restaurant will expand its hours to add lunch in October or November, Schilling said.
The restaurant serves salads, steak and seafood, similar to other dishes served at other restaurants in the Prawnbroker group, Schilling said.
And of course there’s an oyster bar.
“We serve a lot of different kinds of oysters from all over the east coast,” Schilling said.
